Mince is very cheap indeed but do take care, some so called economy mince can have as much as 30% fat and gristle minced in.
It does make sense to buy 10% fat or steak mince that has hardly any fat at all, its slightly more expensive, but far better for you and will taste a lot nicer. I had a version of this dish once in Greece very good it was to.
Ingredients
- 500g mince
- 1 small onion, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 egg white
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
- 2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tbsp tomato puree
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp Worcester sauce
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 100g spinach
- 2 tbsp Worcester sauce
- Simple Braised Rice
Method
- Place the mince, onion, egg white, garlic, thyme, tomato puree, honey & Worcester sauce into a bowl and mix well.
- Form into about 16 small balls.
- Heat the butter in a frying pan and add the balls, cook on all sides for about 10 minutes. They will be nice browned
- When cooked remove from the pan and add the spinach and second lot of Worcester sauce.
- Cook until the spinach is wilted, then add the meat balls back and coat well.
- Serve with braised rice.
