Refreshing, cool and less sugar than most shop bought soft drinks.
Ingredients
- 4 large lemons, peeled with a veg peeler
- 400g granulated sugar
- 15g citric acid
- 1 litre boiling water
- sparkling water
- ice cubes
- lemon slices
Method
- Squeeze the lemons place the juice into a large bowl along with the lemon peel, sugar and citric acid.
- Pour over the boiling water and stir until dissolved.
- Cover and cool completely.
- Bottle and dilute with sparkling water as needed, I add extra lemon slices to the cordial and also plenty of ice cubes.

Action on Sugar, set up earlier this year to reduce the amount of sugar added to food and soft drinks, found that 79% of the sugary drinks included in its survey of 232 sugar-sweetened drinks from leading supermarkets contained six or more teaspoons of sugar per 330ml can.
