Glazed Meatballs


  • 500g mince beef
  • 1 small onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 clove of garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 tsp tomato puree
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 25g unsalted butter
  • For the Glaze
  • 2 tbsp runny honey
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcester sauce
  • 2-3 tbsp water or beef stock
  • 4 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
  • Pepper
  • Salt

Place the mince, onion, egg white, garlic, tomato paste, cumin and black pepper and mix well.  Then form into about 16 small balls. Heat the butter in a frying pan and add the balls, cook on all sides for about 10 minutes. Tip off any fat that may come from the balls, this will ensure the meat browns nicely. When cooked tip off most of the fat and add the honey, tomato ketchup, Worcester sauce and stock or water. Swirl around the pan and reduce slightly so the meatballs coat evenly. Serve with chunky sweet potato puree
