Great Eccleston Show – 15th & 16th July 2017, Saturday will begin with dairy cows and shire horses parading in the main rain competing to be Champion’s of their breed on the day. As well as these, other fine specimens that are on show include sheep, goats, pigs and even rabbits looking their best.
The Food Theatre, continues to draw the crowds and this year is a fantastic opportunity for the general public to see a demonstration from TV Personality and Food Writer, chef Phil Vickery, who returns to our show for the second time. Other local businesses will also demonstrate butchery and cake making and local restaurants will be lending the talents of their chefs to make us all hungry with tasty treats from their menus. Where better to buy your local produce but from the Food Hall which grows year on year with stalls offering such delicacies as cheese, preserves, cookies, seafood and fresh meat.
Other areas will have working craftsmen, steam-powered fairground rides, vintage cars and tractors.
The rest of the showground will be filled with marquees packed with wonderful art work, handicrafts, flower arrangements and cakes brought along by locals and visitors of all ages. The Cheese Judging this year will be performed by Sean Wilson from Saddleworth Cheese Co, or as you will know him best as the actor, who played Martin Platt in Coronation Street for 20 years!
For those wishing to splash out there are always chances to shop with stalls selling clothing, pizza ovens, wines, woodcrafts, leather goods and much much more. There is also the chance to see dancing sheep and shearing at The Sheep Show.
Sunday will have examples of two great powers. The power of the beef animal and the horse power generated by the BTPA points Tractor Pulling competition. The main ring will also have skills that control that power with the Squibb Freestyle Motocross Stunt Show, with radical airborne motorcycle aerobatic stunts.
