When Keith Floyd died on 14th September 2009 we lost a highly regarded, influential cook and television personality. He was a great inspiration to me both in my early days at the Castle Hotel and later in my Television work. I will always remember him as funny, flamboyant but extremely dedicated. A skilled natural cook, Floyd, made a great contribution to the understanding and de-mystifying of good food, cooking and wine - always emphasising the importance of fresh ingredients and local produce.
So I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the Keith Floyd Memorial Project ( http://www.keithfloydmemorialproject.org.uk ) a small group raising money, in private donations, for the creation of a bronze memorial statue to the late great Keith Floyd in his home town of Wiveliscombe in Somerset.
Please take a few minutes to look through the website and if you can pledge some support to the project.
Update: Thanks to the Keith Floyd Memorial Project a memorial plaque to Keith has been erected in Wiveliscombe.
